Say hello to the cutest animal in Asia

When I first saw a picture of a pangolin I thought I had already seen it somewhere but I couldn’t remember where. Only a few days later I could see why — it totally looks like a Pokémon! I looked it up online and saw that I was right — Sandslash the Pokémon was made to look like a pangolin! . These Scales make them look like pinecones with legs.but I couldn’t remember where.

Pangolins live in Asia and Africa. They spend their days in their lair, and their nights outside looking for ants or termites they can eat. They have hard scales all over their bodies. These Scales make them look like pinecones with legs.

The pangolin got its name from the Malay (מלאית) language: what is pengguling in Malay? It is “rolling.” You see, when the pangolin is afraid it rolls into a ball. People used to try and catch it for food or medicine. Thankfully, these days it’s illegal to do that.
