Lately, you have probably started to feel a gentle breeze in the late evening hours. That Gentle breeze means one thing: summer is about to end, and fall is about to start. To celebrate the start of this wonderful season, here are some fun facts you should really know about it.
Let’s start with its name. Personally, I never know if I should use the word “autumn” or the word “fall.” So, just in case you’re not sure either: it turns out that Americans use the word “fall,” while British use “autumn.” All you have to do is decide if you are feeling British or American today!
The word “fall” is short for “falling of the leaf.” Who would have thought?
Feeling more… round lately? That might have something to do with the changing seasons. In the fall, we are much less exposed to sunlight than we are in the summer. This also means we get less vitamin D — which causes our bodies to store more fat.
Did you know that being born in the fall can actually help you live longer? Babies who are born in the fall are more likely to get to the age of 100!
Pretty amazing, huh?
If we’re already talking about the fall — let’s not forget the amazing colors of this Season In the fall, leaves can turn different colors — like red, orange, yellow and brown. The reason for this is Actually the colder temperatures.
One more strange and funny fact about the fall: Americans spend millions of dollars every fall on… pumpkins. Yep, that’s right.
Happy fall everybody!
